1. If possible meet the seller in Person. 2. NEVER, EVER wire funds, cash etc., via Western Union or other money gram type of services 3. If you are selling products and services and are accepting checks, money orders etc., wait 3 weeks for funds to clear. Even though it may look real, it could be a fake and your bank may hold you responsible. 4. Use PayPal whenever possible. PayPal has excellent buyer and seller protection in place. If a seller or buyer refuses to use PayPal and you are not working with them in person, do not deal with them. 5. NEVER give out any personal or financial information, and that includes your PayPal ID. If you are seller, send a Pay Pal link to the buyer and have them follow the onscreen instructions. If you are a buyer, wait to receive the email directly from PayPal. See Pay Pal for more information on protecting yourself with their services. 6. NEVER use a buyer or sellers recommended escrow service. Chances are it is a fake. 7. NEVER deal with a seller or buyer that make outlandish guarantee claims.
